Unleashing Talent Beyond the City: Embracing Flexibility in Regional Communities

Last year I moved permanently to the mid-North Coast. I made the decision to leave Sydney to be closer to my family. I now get to enjoy the spoils of green space and a great community of like-minded 40’s somethings who have all done the same.

One thing we all have in common, apart from a desire to live in a beautiful area, outside the hustle and bustle of Sydney, is we all have jobs that allow us to work flexibly.

For me personally, it’s the best of both worlds, I run The Well-Suited Group from home and commute to Sydney twice a month for client meetings and team catch ups.

When I’m in Sydney, I value the face time, my days are thoughtfully planned to get the most out of my time, making it a productive few days. 

As I establish myself in my new hometown, I recently attended a local #shespeaksbusiness event, which brought together a group of like-minded businesswomen and entrepreneurs, all running successful businesses.

This event demonstrated there is no shortage of good talent outside of the major cities. While traditionally there may not be as many career opportunities in regional areas, many choose to live locally for reasons outside of work. Whether they grew up on the coast, moved away and came back, moved to be closer to family and their support network, for caring responsibilities, a better lifestyle, or a cheaper cost of living and improved housing affordability.

 The exciting opportunity is the untapped market of great talent living in regional locations and a chance to connect women in administration to find flexible and meaningful work.  

Our location doesn’t diminish our experience, our qualifications or the quality of our work. The key is finding the sweet spot between time spent online and time spent face-to-face. 

 And when it comes to finding office support and trusted executive assistance, this is my fortè!
